(Deedee) A non-twining variety in dama de noche family. The fragrance is not as strong as Cestrum nocturnum the night queen or dama de noche. There's a little difference in the size & texture of the leaves. And the branch which bears the flowers dies after, unlike that of Dama de Noche.

(Buner)It could be recognized thru the leaf texture.the C.diurnum has thicker leaves and can grow under the sun. Whereas the C.nocturnum has a softer leaves both have lanceolate leaves.C. nocturnum is a semi shade plant.

Wikipedia: The Persian lime is of hybrid origin, most likely from a cross between key lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) and either lemon (Citrus × limon) or citron (Citrus medica).
Persian limes originate from the Far East, and were first grown on a large scale in Persia (now Iran) and southern Iraq.

Purdue reference: Bearss lime does not differ much from Tahiti lime.

A small citrus tree belonging to the lime group; its fruit is used, among other things, as ingredient in "kinilaw" or "kilawin".

This colubrina shrub is commonly seen at the beach forests and I found my specimen growing at the sandy beach under the pier in Pulupandan. The plant has very distinctive leaves being tri-veined, glossy at the upper surface, and having serrated edges. It bears tiny star-shaped flowers with yellow color at the center. The stems bearing the leaves are somewhat zigzagged like a snake, and can grow to 30 feet and this is maybe why the plant is called the Asian Snakewood. This is a highly invasive weed.

They look exactly the same as the Corcuma longa that we call "kalawag" except for the color of the flowers and the shape and aromatic smell of the rhizomes. Corcuma longa or kalawag is also called "lampuyang" but these ones in the photos are the ones growing in the wild and are now being domesticated in some home gardens.
I keep some plants here in our yard for the flowers which can last for a week even when cut.

Thanks to my friend Romana Pahilanga Delos Reyes for providing the scientific name of this plant.

I remember we call this wide-leafed fern "gisi-gisi". We used the big dried leaves by painting them gold to decorate the stage or parade floats. We used to have this epiphytic fern growing on our fence walls here at home and they were really invasive that I had to remove them for they crowded off the other plants near them. Now I found a new one growing on the trunk of our Christmas Palm near the well. The specimen featured here is from a residence along Riego Street near the public market, in Pulupandan.
