Ficus carica in the Philippines!

Our Australian based member Timothy Thornton posted a photo of a ficus growing in
Ven Island, Sweden. That photo was posted on July 11, 2014. Here is a closeu photo of the common fig, which is very edible and is grown throughout Europe and Meditaranean countries.

I checked whether ficus carica grows in the Philippines, but a search on PythoImages yielded photos of the common ficus growing in Spain. Even the Philippine Plants.org site came up empty handed so we entered the plant index data in Around the World page.

Imagine my pleasant surprise when Yvonne Mamaril Peralta posted the following photo of the common fig tree:

The photo was taken in Panicsican, san Juan, La Union with a Samsung Galaxy Tab2, GT3-3100. This is a good proof that yes, ficus carica grows in the Philippines.
